Oak Wood

So, having said that I'd finished the pictures from Derwent, I found a few more and I'm working my way through slowly.

Also, my dad has been playing with the previous pictures from Derwent: http://littlegreenmenphotography.blogspot.com/2011/03/ladybower-interpretations.html

Derwent Moor

I've finally got round to editing the last few pictures from our trip out to Derwent Moor a few weeks ago.

I can't decide whether I prefer this photo in colour or black and white:

 Spot the dragon....

More flowers

A few more flower close-ups. I managed to pick up a stepping ring at Focus last week so I can now use my 50mm/1.8 to make quite a good macro.

I couldn't decide whether I preferred the rose as pink or a pale orange...

There's been a slight edit to the original post, I've since managed to improve the white balance in the pictures; yellow chrysanthemums were driving me mad!

Playing with Fire

Manchester PhotoSoc put on a great workshop last night playing with burning steel wool in the Castlefield Basin.

Lichens

We took a great walk up around Derwent Moor and Ladybower Reservoir on Saturday. The weather wasn't great and most of the views were hidden in low cloud, there were some fascinating lichen growing on the rocks.

More pictures from the rest of the walk and Treak Cliff Cavern to come soon.

A Burst of Spring Colour

It seems that spring has finally arrived in Manchester and it's been lovely and sunny for the last couple of days. While flowers are rare in the city, it some crocuses have been planted on campus in University colours (purple and yellow) and I couldn't resist the opportunity to grab some pictures of them this morning. Sadly, I only had my camera phone and the focus was a little dodgy, so I applied some 'artistic effects'. Please let me know what you think, and if the weather is nice this weekend, maybe I'll get down there with a real camera...
